What is Cookies and Cream?

Cookies and cream is a traditional ice cream flavour born from Dakota in America. It is undoubtedly a classic ice cream flavour much loved by many for it’s deliciousness.

Oreo cookies are also well known world wide for their creamy white interior and delicious dutch cocoa infused cookie base.

Oreos encapsulate the cookies and cream flavour perfectly, hence why we are using them in our cookies and cream overnight oats recipe.

Ingredients

These cookie and cream overnight oats are vegan, nut free – made with a few simple ingredients.

  • 1 cup Oats
  • 3/4 cup Oat milk
  • 1/2 cup Coconut yoghurt
  • 4 Oreos

Ingredients Notes

Oats

The best kind of oats are rolled oats for sure, they soak up the liquid and give a more creamy texture. Unfortunately whole oats give a more coarse finish.

Milk

This recipe uses an oat milk. However if you are having trouble knowing what plant based milk is for you, then this article might be of help.

I am pretty sure any plant based milk such as coconut, almond or soya would work well.

Oreos

Oreos are the classic cookie used to achieve a delicious cookie and cream flavour. However regular, vegan chocolate chip cookies would work just fine.

Yogurt

This oreo overnights oats recipe uses coconut yoghurt as it is creamy, feels luxurious and replicates a creamy texture perfectly.

It also is a bit more rigid than other vegan yogurts which can be quite runny.

A vegan greek yogurt could work well also. I also really enjoy vanilla soya yogurt in my overnight oats.

Storage Notes

These oreo overnight oats should stay fresh for up to 3 days in a sealed, clean air tight container. They will start to lose their quality after this.

If you are having these oreo overnight oats on the go, you can always bring in a cool bag to keep cool for a few hours. An ice pack will help maintain freshness.

Can I Freeze Overnight Oats?

Although overnight oats can be frozen for up to 3 months in a clean, sealed, freezer proof container – the coconut yogurt layers in this recipe may not be as creamy upon defrosting.

So it is possible to freeze these, baring in mind the oreos will be completely soft additionally due to moisture.

The crumbled oreos soften anyways with the overnight oats so this may not be a huge issue. They will still be delicious!

Notes

These should stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They are the perfect meal prep recipe to keep you satisfied for the week.

The oreos may start to soften within the overnight oats but they still taste great.

This recipe did not use additional sweetener as oreos are already very sweet.

You can use whatever plant based milk is preferred – this recipe uses oat milk however soya, almond or coconut would work just great also.

This recipe uses coconut yoghurt as it is creamy and thick. However a plain soya or vanilla soya yoghurt would work great too!

This recipe makes 2 portions. Half or double the recipe based on your needs.
