Both these sweet and savoury air fried carrots are the perfect side dish for multiple occasions. Think of it as a side to your Sunday roast, Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas lunch.

The air fryer carrots almost feel quite fancy too – and would be an easy addition to your midweek meals also.

I remember when I first tasted the combination of garlic and carrots together when I was staying with my aunty as a child.

They weren’t the same as my mums (sorry mum). It blew my mind!

I have always been obsessed with garlic and I’m so here for garlic air fryer carrots as they are just divine! I literally put garlic on everything. The vegan garlic butter used to coat the carrots works a treat and is very quick to put together.

These air fryer carrots come in handy too if you are not using the oven for dinner when you might ordinarily make roasted carrots. But they taste so similar to roasted carrots anyways!

How To Air Fry Carrots

Savoury Garlic Baby Carrots

Preheat air fryer to a medium heat – approximately 190c/374f.

Wash and scrub your carrots. Some people like to peel – however with baby carrots I don’t bother.

Melt vegan garlic butter in a pan- do this on a low heat as we don’t want to burn the garlic.

In a mixing bowl, coat baby carrots or carrots you choose to use in the melted herbed garlic butter. Some will inevitably sink to the bottom of the bowl. Keep tossing and keep the remainder.

Place in the air fryer basket and cook for approximately 15 minutes.

Half way through – remove from air fryer and coat once again in the remaining butter for extra deliciousness.

Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve them with your dish of choice and enjoy!

This is one of my favourite air fryer recipes and one I use again and again!

Sweet Baby Carrots

Follow the steps above with the same cooking time – however rather than using the vegan garlic butter, replace this with sweet paprika, cinnamon, brown sugar and a little olive oil.

Remember this time be sure to use the usual air fryer technique and give them a good shake to distribute them being cooked evenly.

We didn’t do this with the garlic ones as we removed them half way through.

There tends to be more surplus garlic butter than the sweet and spicy one because the dry spices helps soak up the liquid.

What Air Fryer To Use?

If you are a newbie to air fryers – we have a full and extensive guide to air fryers right here.

I am one of those people who gets appliances for their birthdays (fully my choice!) and this was one of the best yet!

Air fryers are super handy pieces of kitchen kit. They are separate to your cooker and need to be plugged into the mains. You’ll need a little bit of bench space to use it without it crowding your kitchen.

It works by circulating hot air around the system with a fan by the process of convection. It can cook at temperatures of up to 230 c / 450 f and generally it takes less time to cook than a traditional deep fat fryer.

There is usually an opening where the air fryer sucks air in and another opening that sends air out, creating a flow of air.

Ninja 4 Quart Electric Air Fryer

I am a big fan of the Ninja brand in general, they have awesome blenders that I love! The Ninja Air Fryer has 4 settings, from roasting to dehydration settings there is lots to play with on the Ninja Air Fryer.

How Many Baby Carrots In A Serving?

It’s usually said approximately 12 baby carrots per serving. However if you are serving up a big feast with lots of trimmings you could probably cut this down to around 8 baby carrots per head.

You can gauge on what you think you guests would eat, for example a child might eat much less and maybe Aunty Mary doesn’t like carrots!

What If I Don’t Have An Air Fryer?

No problem! An air fryer is obviously super handy. However you can easily achieve these delicious sweet and savoury baby carrots from roasting in the oven.

In fact you can probably cut out the step of re-coating the garlic carrots as they will be basking in the garlic butter in a roasting dish.

Simply coat your sweet carrots in the sweet and spicy vegan butter, place in a roasting dish and roast at approximately 190c or 375f for 30 minutes.

Do the same with the vegan garlic butter baby carrots in a separate dish.
